This song was intended to be a St. Trinian’s-style answer song to J J Barrie’s 1976 offering of servile gratitude in reward of parental sacrifice, “No Charge”. The teenage mind constantly at war with uninvited parental control. The Midwich Cuckoos aren’t asking for guidance, they are high on rebellion, as “No Charge” changes to “Charge!” and parents leap out of the path of their lance-wielding teenaged offspring.
